According to the plan, on July 29, 2015 Microsoft will
release its latest platform, Windows 10. Through the official website,
Microsoft has announced a support for the platform. Previously, Microsoft has
also announced that it no longer asserts itself as a software company, but a
company that will focus on device and service, so that the presence of these
changes will also change the position of Windows platform itself as a service
(Windows as a service).
From the description in the official website of Microsoft
Windows, it is written that the additional support for the Windows 10 operating
system's bug fixes and security updates will take place over the next 10 years
or more precisely until October 14, 2025. However, the mainstream support will
last only until 2020.
In addition, through its official web page, the giant IT Company
based in Redmond, US has warned users that the updates might not be compatible
with some existing hardware.
The updates are cumulative where each update is built on the
updates that have been done before. The updates could include new features, bug
fixes, improvements of security features and / or systems, or can also
improvement of both.
From the statement, Microsoft also doesn't guarantee that
the update will be available and able to work for all hardware on the market,
so there is possibility if a device can't receive the update due to the absence
of the driver, because the device used by user is outside the support of OEM
(Original Equipment Manufacturer).
Still based on Microsoft's official statement on its site,
the availability of updates may varies based on the country, region, network
connectivity, cellular operators (for example, for devices that have cellular
capability), or the hardware capabilities (including, the remaining space on
the hard drive).
A spokesman for Microsoft said that Windows 10 is the last
version of Windows that can be purchased by users, which refers to the
explanation in the beginning of the article that Windows will present as a
service. A big update just like previously won't happen again so that the OS
for the desktop from Microsoft will only come in the form of Windows 10. The
updates given won't be big, but run gradually, at least until 2025.
So this information means that after 2025 the support for
Windows 10 operating system will end as has been experienced by Windows XP
today. So later, Windows 10 will no longer get supports and updates, including
bug fixes and additional security system.
