Designed specifically for technical and scientific
applications, that's the description of a workstation PC. But this kind of PC
also evolves along with the time, workstation is now no longer just a giant
monster PC, the high performance starts to be packed in a slimmer form, and MSI
has just stepped into a new level of compounding the workstation.
Mobile workstation design is not a new innovation for MSI.
This Taiwanese PC and hardware manufacturer has marketed the WT series for long
enough. It carries a similar form with gaming notebook; the only difference
lays in the hardware arrangement. MSI realizes that a new maneuver should be
done to make this brand win the tight competition in the professional realm.
Finally MSI releases the WS60, a workstation with ultrabook-style appearance.
MSI doesn't hesitate to call WS60 as the thinnest and
lightest ultra-portable workstation at 15.6-inch screen level. MSI tries to
make this notebook as thin as possible by utilizing the magnesium-lithium
chassis. The WS60 has 1.9 cm thickness with only 1.95-kilogram weight,
including battery.
MSI wants to unlock the potential and encourage the highest
performance, yet remains guided by the portability. And for the WS60, this
product is made for the designers of multimedia content and entertainment
(M&E) and CAD technicians who require mobility.
From the description of the manufacturer, the realization of
MSI vision is greatly helped by the presence of 14-nanometer microarchitecture
in the sixth-generation of Intel Core processor 'Skylake', plus the support
from Xeon E3-1505M. It has a smart performance features in which the speed of
the processor can be adapted to the needs of 3D processing. On the graphics
side, MSI chooses Nvidia Quadro M1000M GPU, presents 50 percent performance
leap if compared to its predecessor.
Other specifications include dual-channel memory slots up to
32GB, SSD storage and 1TB hard drive, support of Matrix Display technology, as
well as 'Super Port' connectivity: USB3.1 Type-C, Thunderbolt 3, 4K output,
fast charger (optional). Some components in the gaming series are also adopted
by WS60, for example the SteelSeries keyboard backlight, Hi-Fi ESS Sabre audio
system, Dynaudio speaker plus Nahimic, and also True Color technology monitor.
Like the other MSI's mobile workstation family members, the WS60
has obtained certification from Autodesk, Solidworks, PTC and other independent
software vendors, so you don't need to worry about its compatibility. This
notebook has been preloaded with the Windows 10 Pro, and the customers will be
offered with two screen options: anti-glare full-HD 1080p or UHD (3840 x 2160).
