Misfit Shine was a wearable device that's born through
Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in 2012. From there Misfit was growing rapidly,
received funding from a number of investors and eventually became one of the
world's leading manufacturers of fitness tracker.
Now, three years have passed since the Misfit Shine won the
hearts of its fans. Misfit Shine has received many improvements via software
update, but sometimes there are some things that must be resolved with hardware
revision. And now the Misfit Shine 2 is officially introduced.
The changes that are carried by Misfit Shine 2 are actually
more evolutionary than revolutionary. However, any changes that are brought by
this fitness tracker certainly become good news for consumers.
The design doesn't get much changes, it's just the body of
Misfit Shine 2 is now made thinner, about 8 mm. The chassis is made of
aircraft-grade aluminum, and it is waterproof to a depth of 50 meters. The 12
small LED lights now can be lit in 16 million colors, not just white. Misfit
Shine 2 doesn't need to be recharged; it's powered by a button battery that can
last up to about six months.
Accompanying the 3-axis accelerometer, now there is a
magnetometer. Both will be in harmony in monitoring the user's physical
activities and sleep patterns. Notifications can now be passed on in the form
of vibration at the wrist, and the responsiveness of the touch panel is claimed
to have increased quite dramatically.
But what's interesting from the Misfit Shine 2 is the IFTTT
integration, which means Misfit Shine 2 can now be used to control a variety of
smart home devices and Internet-based services, such as turn on/off the Philips
Hue bulbs or playing the playlist on the music streaming services. All of them
can be done with certain gesture patterns.
Misfit Shine 2 will be sold in next November. This fitness
tracker is offered at a price of $ 100, and it is available in two colors: Rose
Gold and Carbon Black.
