LINE seems very serious in
providing security system for its users. LINE has just provided the latest
update for its application on the Android and iOS platforms with a new feature
called Letter Sealing.
This is a security feature that
implements the encryption method of E2EE or end-to-end encryption, which means,
the message you send to friends or family will be encrypted by the system
that's attached in each device, not on the centralized server. Thus, it's impossible
for third-party application to hack the messages that have been sent.
LINE plans to embed the Letter
Sealing feature to the individual conversation and Location Sharing. But LINE
ensures that the other features will also follow in the future.
To be able to try this new
security system, both of users, the sender and recipient, should have installed
this feature, or in other words, they must have been using the latest version
of LINE (version 5.3.0) that has been available in Google Play Store and App
Store. This feature has to be activated first.
To enable the Letter Sealing
feature: More - Settings - Chats and Voice Calls - and then tap the Letter
Sealing.
As information, previously LINE
has brought some features to maintain the security of users, such as Hidden
Chat, Time Limited, Passcode Lock and also four-digit PIN.
