Intel has been marketing a mini PC called NUC (Next Unit of
Computing) for several years. But so far Intel NUC is only sold in the form of
barebone, aka without RAM, storage and operating system. Therefore, many
consumers don't realize about the existence of the Intel NUC product line.
However, Intel recently does something different. For the
first time, this company offers Intel NUC as a complete system that's ready to
use once the box is opened. This device even comes with Windows 10 - although
users can still install other OS such as Ubuntu or other Linux distro, or even
Android.
Carrying the Grass Canyon codename, the latest version of
Intel NUC is still maintaining its compact body. It has a dimension of about
11.4 x 11.2 x 5 cm. Inside this device there is 2.4GHz Intel Braswell Pentium
processor N3700 and integrated Intel HD Graphics chip. Other components include
a 2 GB DDR3 RAM - up to a maximum 8 GB - and 32 GB eMMC storage. Uniquely, the
users can insert 2.5 inch HDD/SSD if they need extra capacity.
Intel NUC Grass Canyon presents four USB 3.0 ports at the
same time - two in front and two behind - Ethernet port, VGA, HDMI, and
headphone/microphone jack. The wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi AC and
Bluetooth 4.0, and it also brings an SD card slot on the side.
Intel NUC Grass Canyon will be sold for $ 255, quite
affordable so that you can use the remaining budget for buying a mouse,
keyboard, and monitor.
