Dell XPS 15 is officially launched; it brings the 4K screen and high specification

Dell XPS 15

In last February, we had been impressed by the Dell XPS 13. What made this laptop so special was its physical feature, where it's claimed as the smalest 13.3-inch laptop in the world. It could be achieved because of the super-thin frame that allowed Dell to install larger screen within a limited space.

XPS itself is the flagship line of Dell, and the line is now presenting the latest generation of the Dell XPS 15, which actually had been exhibited at the Computex 2015 event. Dell XPS 15 is retaining all the positive elements in the Dell XPS 13, but with a larger size and much more powerful components.

The design of Dell XPS 15 is actually not much different than its predecessor, but the frame is made of intact aluminum material. The inner surface - in the left-right side of the trackpad and keyboard - is using carbon fiber material. This makes it still feels solid, but at the same time also feels soft in hand.

Talking about the dimension, again Dell gives a pretty ambitious claim: Dell XPS 15 is the smallest 15-inch laptop in the world; the size is the same as 14-inch laptop. This laptop has a thickness of 11-17 mm, and weighs about 2 kg, light enough when seen from the specifications that include 84WHr battery power.

The touch screen is packing more than 8 million pixels. Yup, this screen is the 4K screen, with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels to display images as detail as possible and support 100% Adobe RGB color spectrum. Its view angle is quite spacious thanks to the use of IPS IGZO panel, i.e. 170 degrees. The brightness level reaches 400 nits, lighter than the laptop screens in general.

The most expensive variant of Dell XPS 15 is equipped with a 4K screen and relies on the sixth-generation of Intel Core i7 processor and 2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 960m GPU. The multitasking will run smoothly thanks to the use of 16 GB RAM, and 1TB SSD storage capacity. Although this laptop is supported with powerful specification, the battery power can still reach 11 hours in a single charge.

Although Dell XPS 15 has a thin body, this laptop still brings complete ports, such as a pair of USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, SD card slot, and a Thunderbolt 3 port which is also a USB-C port. This laptop of course runs with Windows 10 operating system.

Dell XPS 15 will be marketed at a price of $ 999, but this variant only includes Core i3 processor and a 1080p non-touch screen. If you are eyeing the variant which brings 4K screen and a separate GPU, the price will jump to be $ 1,599.
