Canon may not be too aggressive in creating the mirrorless
cameras just like Fujifilm or Panasonic, but it doesn't mean that Canon will
not try this segment at all; recently Canon has just released a new mirrorless camera
called Canon EOS M10.
At a glance the design of EOS M10 looks like the cameras
from Canon's PowerShot line. Canon claims that this camera is designed for the
social media generation, where the camera is able to shoot sharp images that
deserve to get a lot of 'like'.
Canon EOS M10 is powered by the 18 megapixel APS-C sensor,
with ISO sensitivity of 100 - 25600. The sensor performance is supported by a
hybrid autofocus system and DIGIC 6 processor that offers continuous shooting
speed up to 4.6 fps. It can record video in a resolution of 1080p 30 fps.
Canon EOS M10 is equipped with EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM
lens. This lens is unique because its dimension is fairly short, but will be
elongated when you want to use it.
The operational of Canon EOS M10 relies more on the touch
screen instead of dial and physical buttons. On the top part you will only see
the shutter button, record button, and a button to switch between the video
mode, manual or automatic, and there’s also an LED flash on the left side.
At the rear, the EOS M10 is dominated with a 3 inch touch
screen in a resolution of 1.04 million dot. This screen can be rotated up to
180 degrees, facing forward, and is ready to be used for selfie. The captured
pictures can be moved to a smartphone or tablet with ease via Wi-Fi or NFC.
It's quite clear that Canon is not targeting the professional
photographers, the Canon EOS M10 is more targeting on the users who want to
upgrade from a pocket camera or smartphone's camera. Canon EOS M10 will go on
sale in November for $ 600, including the lens.
