After Intel Skylake for desktop version had been introduced
in Gamescom 2015 event in last August, Intel has now officially presented this
new processor for all devices.
If compared with the processor that's produced five years
ago, the improvement that's brought by Skylake sounds so impressive. Physically
it has much smaller dimension, thinner and lighter. However, behind its tiny
body, it has 2.5 times better performance, 30 times faster graphics processing,
and can increase the battery life up to 3 times.
Intel claims that this sixth generation processor has been
optimized for Windows 10, especially to support the security features such as
Windows Hello. What makes slightly different is the Intel Core M processor line
is now divided into three categories (m3, m5, m7) so that consumers can more
easily make comparisons.
Intel Core M with Skylake architecture has a very small size
- same size with the SIM card. It' so small so that General Manager of Intel,
Kirk Skaugen, stated that they were testing the Intel Core M on smaller device
than laptop and tablet.
For the first time also, Intel offers unlocked processor (K
series) for laptops. The unlocked version allows users to overclock in order to
improve the performance. Previously, the overclocking feature on Intel Core
unlocked version is only available for the desktop PC.
This sixth-generation of Intel Core will soon be available
on some new devices, ranging from AIO (all-in-one) PCs, hybrid laptops, and
also mini computers ala Intel Compute Stick.
