At IFA 2015, Philips decides to do something different. Philips introduces a series of health devices that's packaged in Philips HealthSuite, a cloud-based platform that serves to evaluate health data from various products.
The first device is the Philips Health Watch. Yes, this is
the first smartwatch from this Dutch manufacturer. The features offered by this
smartwatch are fairly comprehensive, ranging from heart rate monitor, physical
activities monitor and also sleep pattern monitor.
Philips Health Watch seems to run Philips' own operating system;
nevertheless, it still needs to be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth to
analyze all the collected data.
The second devices are two kinds of blood pressure monitors.
Both devices are unique because they are easier to use than the traditional
blood pressure monitors, and the battery can be charged via USB.
Next is the Philips Body Analysis Scale. As the name
implies, this device is a body scale that will measure a number of extra
parameters in addition to the weight. It will also measure the levels of fat
and body mass index. This smart scale can store up to eight user profiles that
can be used by all family members.
The other simpler health gadget is the Philips Ear
Thermometer. The device is designed to measure the body temperature of adults
and children accurately; the process takes only 2 seconds.
Still about health device, but this time it's leading to the
medical context, Philips presents a device called Philips Lumify. This is an
ultrasound scanner which has a compact size, and is ideal for emergency
purposes in clinics and hospitals. But unlike the other devices above that are
addressed for public, the Philips Lumify is intended for medical experts only.
All the above devices can forward the data to the Philips HealthSuite application, which will most likely be available for Android and
iOS. Hopefully, users can be more disciplined to monitor their health without
having to visit the hospital to perform simple diagnoses.
