It has been long enough that the mobile version of YouTube
doesn't get significant update. But recently Google apparently has sent a big
update for the mobile version of this most popular video sharing service.
Why is this mobile application update so important to be
highlighted? Because based on Google's explanation, more than half of views
number in Youtube is derived from mobile devices users. Or simply put, users
often access YouTube using smartphones or tablets instead of computer devices.
Therefore, the latest version of YouTube application comes
with a fresh new look. This update will be devoted for the Android and mobile
web versions first, and then will be followed by the IOS version.
In a new look of YouTube app in Android; you will see three
tabs at the top: Home, Subscriptions and Account. Home is the place where
YouTube will provide recommendation of videos and playlists that are likely to
draw your attention, based on the video history you've watched.
Next is the Subscriptions tab, as the name implies, here is
where whole new videos from all the channels you have subscribed are presented.
You are now able to choose to receive notifications whenever there is a new
video uploaded with just one tap on the bell icon.
On the Account tab, you can listen to all the playlists you
have stacked; the videos you've watched and also the videos you've uploaded.
Speaking about the uploaded videos, the new version of YouTube application also
presents fairly complete editing functions, including the option to add filters
and songs.
Last and not least, you can now watch the vertical videos in
fullscreen, not landscape videos with black blocks on the left and right. Perhaps
this is YouTube's answer to its new challenger named Vervid, which prioritizes
itself to accommodate the vertical videos.
