Kitchen is one of spaces in our house that's susceptible to
dirt, not just dirt from spilled-oil but also from invisible bacteria. To
minimize the negative impacts of bacteria, we usually attempt to kill as many
as germs and bacteria using the cleaning fluid. But one thing that's sometimes
forgotten is the cleaning fluid itself often contains chemical compounds that also
potentially bring negative effects.
If we visit the hospital or laboratory, it is likely we will
see the janitors sterilize a variety of tools by using ultraviolet light (UV).
Scientifically, UV light is proven effective to stop the growth of bacteria.
So, why don't use it at home?
That is to be offered by UVe Bot. It is a small-sized robot
that's ready to clean a variety of surfaces with UV light. It can be used in
the kitchen, in the dining room, in the shower, or in the baby's room.
Physically UVe looks cute, it has rounded shape and compact,
with a diameter of 147 mm and height 64 mm. The construction frame is formed
from ABS plastic and aluminum. At the top, there is a button to start the
operation.
UVe can operate independently, you don't need to control it;
put it on the kitchen table, and then it will explore all surfaces while
emitting UV rays downward.
Interestingly, UVe can detect when it walks at the end of
the table, or when there is an object in front of it. At that point, this
device will automatically retreat and turn to other direction. Furthermore, it
will automatically stop emitting UV light when you lift it. This feature is
pinned to avoid the risk of eye damage because of the UV light.
In addition of kitchen table that's made from wood, UVe can
also clean other types of surfaces, no matter dry or wet - as long as you don't
place it on the wall or wherever vertically. On top of ceramic, marble,
concrete, and also the carpet that's made from cork can be explored while
emitting UV rays.
UVe is powered by a rechargeable battery. It can operate for
2 hours before needing to be charged for 3 hours. When the battery power
remains only 10%, it will move back to its charging dock by itself.
Uve Bot currently is still undergoing crowdfunding campaign
on Kickstarter. The lowest pledge for now is $ 89 for one unit of UVe along
with its charging dock. Unfortunately, the international expansion of UVe so
far only covers Europe and Australia.
