Whatever the arguments of the fanboys out there, there is an
undeniable fact: some genres of games can only be enjoyed with a specific
controller. Of course, there are a lot of shooter and strategy games that are
presented in the home console, but if the games are brought into a more serious
level, just imagine how difficult it will be to play CS: GO or Dota 2 by using
a gamepad.
The good news is the awkward moment playing Call of Duty and
Battlefield Hardline on the PlayStation 4 will soon be over. Hori, a peripheral
company has just showed off the Tactical Assault Commander 4 (TAC4) that's
formulated to mimic the PC control method in the Sony's console, including
mouse movements and WASD input in QWERTY keyboard.
Like the keyboard and mouse, TAC4 has two separate
components, but actually this controller is not designed to copy all the functions
of PC keyboard. It is devoted for gaming, translating the DualShock 4 layout
and all 18 buttons to be more comfortable in the shooter games - especially
competitive games. Not yet known whether TAC4 buttons can be customized, but
Hori certainly has prepared a different profile option.
So what’s about its mapping button? The D-Pad is replaced by
WASD, and then the Triangle and Circle buttons are in the position of Q and E.
The movements of 'mouse' take over the thumb-stick to control the camera. There
is also Trigger Shoulder along with Square button to give reload orders. If you
used to wear PC to play games, TAC4 certainly will feel very familiar.
Usually shooter game console presents a number of solutions
related to the gamepad limitations. First, the developer may add an auto-aim
feature to facilitate the shooting (sometimes also adopted into mobile games).
And in general, the games have a special button for turning around as quickly
as possible. The Tactical Assault Commander 4 ensures the FPS experts to remain
superior both in the PC and PS4.
However there is a constraint on the presentation of TAC4.
The keyboard and mouse are designed to be put on the table, while the gamepad
allows users to play the games while relaxing on the sofa. Keep in mind, TAC4
is connected via cable, causing the setup space is so limited - and to be able
to play optimally, the player can’t put it on uneven surfaces.
Based on information in the Amazon UK, the Tactical Assault
Commander 4 will be launched on October 9, 2015 at a price of £87, or around US
$ 135.
