It has been about five years since Microsoft released Office
2011 for Mac. Throughout that time, not many updates received by Office for Mac
users other than minor repairs and improvements.
During this time, Mac has been growing very rapidly. The
majority of Mac devices now have packed Retina Display feature, and the
operating system display is now much more modern. But unfortunately, if they
choose to use Microsoft Office than Apple iWork, they must be patient with the Office
2011 for Mac that has been old.
Well, now everything is change
with the release of Office 2016 for Mac. After its preview version was released
in last March, now Office 2016 for Mac can be downloaded directly by all
customers of the Office 365 service.
So, what's new from the Office 2016 for Mac? The first is the full support for Retina Display so that
everything will look sharper and clearer, of course in a style that has been
adapted to the new look of OS X Yosemite. Ribbon interface that has become the
hallmark of Office in Windows is also presented. This is not surprising because
the Office app for iPad is also equipped with the same features.
Still about the visual, Office
2016 for Mac can now be used in fullscreen mode, suitable for you who need more
concentration. Gesture like pinch-to-zoom can also be done on Mac trackpad.
For the first time, users of
Office for Mac now can access and store documents in the cloud (Microsoft OneDrive).
Sharing function has now been updated so that users can be more easily invite
colleagues to work on a document together.
Office 2016 for Mac consists of
five different applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and OneNote. Word
for Mac now carries the Design tab that will allow you to adjust the layout and
the overall look of a document. In Excel, Mac users will now get a
recommendation about the chart types that are ideal for the listed data.
For PowerPoint for Mac, users can
now access the Animations tab to select and organize all animations on a
variety of objects, as well as Transitions tab to manage the transition of each
slide to the next presentation slide. Outlook for Mac now delivers better push
notification and conversation view. Finally, OneNote for Mac is now no longer
'isolated' in the Mac App Store alone, but it becomes the part of Office for
Mac for the first time.
As said before, all Office 365
customers are now able to download the latest version of Office 2016 for Mac.
If you are only interested in buying Office 2016 for Mac without subscribing to
Office 365, you still have to wait until next September. For the students, they
