Bugatti Chiron, the successor of Bugatti Veyron reportedly will carry a hybrid engine technology

The term of hybrid car generally refers to vehicle that's using alternative energy sources, one of which is the electric car. The making of hybrid car is intended to reduce the level of pollution, but unfortunately some supercar fans haven't taken it seriously though a number of giant automotive manufacturers have confirmed their participation in this line.

After a few months ago Koenigsegg showcased Regera which was claimed as the world's strongest hybrid supercar, now Volkswagen announces that the Bugatti Veyron successor is also a hybrid vehicle, called Chiron. This car will also inherit the 'high performance' principle of Automobiles Ettore Bugatti. The Bugatti Chiron is designed to deliver the power of not less than 1,500 horsepower.

Interestingly, the Volkswagen Group boss, Martin Winterkorn, explained that in addition to gasoline-fueled variant, there will be also a hybrid version with additional performance for the first time. The explanation indicates there are two variants of the Bugatti Veyron successor, in which the hybrid type will become a new idol. The 'Chiron' itself may be just a codename, taken from the name of the Bugatti driver, Louis Chiron.

Chiron would be armed with the modification machine of Bugatti Veyron, 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine. Uncertain whether the 1500 horse power is the total sum of two motors, or even calculated based on the performance of the gasoline engine alone, if so, then the Chiron potentially saves bigger power. The huge power ensures the Bugatti hybrid supercar will run from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than two seconds. Chiron is expected to achieve a maximum speed of 480 km per hour.

Reported by Digital Trends, this new model promises to be the fastest production car on the road, but still reliable for everyday driving. Chiron presents a monocoque chassis (integrated into the body) made from carbon fiber with two chairs, like the Veyron. Bugatti also combines an assortment of luxurious materials and applying advanced technology and connectivity.

Hybrid powertrain serves to give power to the four wheels via seven speed levels through dual-clutch automatic transmission. The names of LaFerrari and McLaren P1 indeed dominate the supercar realm today, but if seen from the specs and similar approach, Koenigsegg Regera is the closest competitor of Chiron.

Bugatti Chiron is planned to be officially revealed in 2016, and scheduled for launch in 2017. So far we can only see the rendering images from the Car Magazine.
