Samsung, the company which is touted always overshadow Apple
through its products, is preparing to release a new smartwatch that will become
the closest rival of Apple Watch. Despite Samsung already has a number of
smartwatches, but now the company which is based in South Korea has set up the
latest smartwatch that will have a brand new design.
If the previous Samsung smartwatches had square screens,
this new smartwatch that reportedly will be called 'Orbis or Galaxy Gear A'
will have a round shape. The information about this device comes from the
latest SDK (Software Development Kit) Gear which's aimed for developers; from
there we also know that the smartwatch will operate with Samsung's Tizen OS.
So what's new on this Samsung smartwatch? The round design
given to this smartwatch has a purpose, because the bezel’s edge can be rotated
to access some menus and execute a number of commands.
This function that's predicted will be able to compete with the
Apple Watch's Digital Crown. Through this feature the users of Samsung's latest
smartwatch will be able to access the menu, move the screen, zoom-in and
zoom-out when displaying photographs or other.
Just like other smartwatches in general, the latest Samsung smartwatch will have a
number of features such as heart rate monitor, connection to GPS satellite, has
the ability to connect to WiFi network and access to mobile network, but
unfortunately, as quoted from Phonearena, this device only has a connection to
2G networks, because it is actually a complementary device that can be paired
with other smart devices such as smartphones and tablets where a faster
connection can be obtained from those devices.
From the teaser image displayed on the developer page we can
see that this smartwatch will be able to access a number of application
services such as CNN, Yelp, Baidu, FidMe, and Apposter. Unfortunately there is
no information about the technical details of this smartwatch, but reportedly
this device will carry a 1.65 inch touch screen with a resolution of 360 x 360
pixels.
Indeed this smartwatch hasn't had a definite name, the two
names above could still change, but reportedly Samsung will release this
smartwatch in September this year in conjunction with the release of Samsung
Galaxy Note 5.
