Nuimo is a universal controller for a variety of smart home
devices or Internet of Things (IOT). The form looks simple: round, flat and
minimalist. Its diameter is only about 78mm, 19mm thick, and weighs around
190grams.
Nuimo is equipped with Bluetooth LE chip which makes it
compatible with nearly all devices that also have been equipped with the power
efficient wireless connectivity. A number of white LED lights serve as an
indicator of active mode.
To control the smart devices using Nuimo, you can take
advantage of a number of ways. First, you can rotate its bezel. Second, Nuimo
surface which has been equipped with a capacitive panel can be clicked and
swiped. And the last one is Nuimo infrared sensor will read your hand
movements, much like Air Gesture feature on several Samsung smarphones.
So what kind of devices that can be controlled by Nuimo?
Nuimo can be integrated with the Sonos speakers, Nest Thermostat, Philips Hue,
Lockitron Smart Lock, Wemo Smart Lock, Smartthings Smart Home Hub, and the DIY
Arduino. Furthermore, the developers are free to design other forms of
integration because Nuimo has adopted open-source system.
But not only that, Nuimo can also control various multimedia
applications on a smartphone or computer. Ranging from music played on
SoundCloud application, until the videos that are being streamed from YouTube,
you can control it with Nuimo so your smartphone can recharge its batteries in
the room without interference.
Nuimo uses rechargeable lithium-polymer battery. It's said
that the durability can reach up to 4 months, but it all depends on your usage.
Nuimo comes with magnetic mount so you can stick it on the wall or take it off
and then put it in different rooms with ease.
Developed and built in Germany, Nuimo initially will be
marketed only in certain countries - the detail is not included in the
Kickstarter page, but the developer has planned international expansion. The
lowest pledge at this time is offered at € 109.
