Ecocapsule, a portable home with independent power and water system

Ecocapsule

Camping is a fun activity, besides far from the noise of urban areas, at the same time we can also discover exotic areas at various locations. Usually when camping we will have limited water and electricity; this can be understood because the place is far from the power plant and water provider.

An architectural firm of Slovakia, Nice Architects, has interesting solution. They design a modern tent that allows you to live anywhere you want, as long as there are enough wind and rain.

Ecocapsule

The tent is called Ecocapsule. Its shape looks like a capsule with a long reach of 4.5 meters, width of 2.4 meters and height of 2.5 meters, with an empty weight of 1.5 tons. In total, you get a space of about 8 m² and can be occupied comfortably by two adults.

This portable home brings simple home furnishings. There is a folding bed, and then on the other side there is a table along with a bench, and also some small-sized storage cupboards. Right on the left of the entrance, there is a small kitchen. Across the entrance, there is a small room containing a shower and a composting toilet.

Two large windows can be opened to enjoy the view outside - the assumption is you will put this Ecocapsule at the mountainside that's surrounded by beautiful panorama. Then an extra storage closet can be accessed from the outside.

But the most interesting part of Ecocapsule is how it can provide basic infrastructure such as electricity networks and access to clean water. The entire roof has been embedded with solar panels, covering an area of 2.6 m² that will convert sunlight into electrical energy with an output of 600 W. Not only that, a 750 W wind turbine also completes this power generation system.

The electrical energy created will then be stored in the battery capacity of 9744 Wh. This battery is used to store electrical power so that you can still get lighting at night or when the wind is blowing slowly.

Talking about the clean water access, apparently Ecocapsule rounded design has its own reason apart from the aesthetic aspects. Thanks to this design, the rain water will flow down following the Ecocapsule contour towards the container at the bottom of the Ecocapsule. From here, the water will be filtered and processed until it can be consumed.

Ecocapsule is currently still in a concept, but the developer plans to show off a prototype in the Pioneers Festival event in Vienna, Austria, on May 28, 2015. The marketing is expected to begin at the early next year, although there is no information about the price of this invention.
